Way to go, Gupp!

Gupp was named Employee of the Month for Operations, for which she gets $10,000.

OK, she only gets $50, but Tone's buying drinks on her birthday this weekend!!!!!

Here's the notice that went out to bank staff re: this month's recognized employees:

Operations:

Toni Buys

AVP Corporate Governance- Ionia Johnson Bldg

Nominated by Dave Troyer

Toni is the Corporate Governance Officer for the bank, and as such is responsible for ensuring that Executive Management and the Board of Directors follow the rules and regulations as set by the State and Federal Government. She is also the Business Continuity Plan Coordinator and the “keeper of the procedures”. Toni has to be able to walk the fine line of keeping everyone “in line”, without overstepping the boundaries and getting herself in over her head. Toni is involved with many community programs such as the “living without tobacco” program with the Ionia County Health Department and she bakes dynamite pies that she donates or sells and donates the proceeds from the sale to special events. Toni is a fountain of information and an invaluable resource for whom to see and how to tackle the most complex problems faced.

Way to go Gupp! I knew that all your experience as "the Queen" would help you out in the business world :-) I do think the honor is worth more than $50.00 though!!! Hopefully they'll give you a paid day off on your birthday! How nice that you are appreciated and recognized for your hard work - that's more than most of us have ever seen in our work lives. See you Friday!

There are 8 people that get $50 every month. They used to give a coffee mug and a designated parking space. I complained about that years ago and said they should give money. I'm grateful for the nomination and the $50!

Years ago, I found a way for the State Journal to save about $750 a month on their newsroom cell phones, after asking, "Who even uses these phones?"

I found out which ones worked, were turned on and what better plans would be by going to Verizon and sitting down with someone.

Because of that, I was nominated for a monthly award, along with 4 others.

The winner got $500. I got an LSJ travel mug. The handle broke off the next day. :(
