Laid up once again

Sarah here:
I am once again lying around, although not of my own volition. I guess the one good thing is that I have time to learn how to post on our blog. Kirsten is working overtime and I really don't think she will be having any children anytime soon. I am going to work on putting up some construction photos and also some clean sweeping info. I hope all is well at your perspective homes and I can't wait for my next trip to Ionia to begin my clean sweep project with Maggie and Sue. Maybe we should start a gambling pool about how long it may take us to finish. Any takers?

Ellie's sportscast!

I dyed today.

I'm gearing up for a craft show on the fourth, and found myself wondering what in the world a knitter could offer people in the spring. SO, I ordered 2,000 yards of dyeable wool and have been in a sea of dye and kitchen chaos for the last week.

Dan snapped a couple of pictures of me tonight attempting to make sense of some colors. Just thought I would share. If anyone is around, or has the day free, the show is going to be pretty cool. Twenty vendors -- mostly jewelry, paper goods, photography, etc. I'll be vending with my friend Jay again , who will be the only person selling clothing. It's from noon to 7 at a new pool hall in downtown Ferndale, so it would be a good weekend for a visit! The Woodward Avenue Brewery is next door and has great food too.

Dan will be the first DJ of the day, playing tunes from noon to 2.

Anyway, here are some pictures of me dyeing. I think this combination actually turned out OK!

It's true.

We're moving.

Again.

This will be the third move in a year. A YEAR. Ugh. The good news is, we found a great house in Ferndale. The bad news is, we love our landlord. New landlord Jim has some big shoes to fill.

I'll let Dan explain why we're moving HERE.

And you can see what the view is at our current home, around which a construction crew recently descended from the sky. Check it out HERE.

We're (hopefully) moving in over the course of the next few weeks, so we'll be sure and update with photos of the new pad!

Butterfly house

Claire and I went to the mall on Sunday to go to the butterfly house, with her cousin Sepporah and Dan's sister-in-law, Jessica. When we got there, there was a bit of a wait until our turn, so we let the girls window shop in some nearby stores. It was a scary flash forward to what they will be like in 10 years shopping.

"Sepporah, isn't this SOOOOOOO CUUUUUUTE?!?!" Then they would take the skirt, or shirt or anything and hold it in front of them and kind of model it around in front of the mirror.

As Claire walked around the store, she sometimes got deep in thought, thinking about just what exactly she would like to wear to her birthday party next month.

Then off to the butterfly house, which was a little blah (it was only the second day and they only have small painted ladies so far). But the girls had fun, so that's all that counts.

It's been a while...

Sorry for such a delay. I have been busier than ever and have found no time for blogging. I'm hoping to change that -- especially after my craft show on the 4th.

On that note, here are a few random items:

* I'll be participating in a craft show called Spring Fling on Saturday, April 4 from noon to 7 p.m. There will be about 20 vendors and it's being held at a new pool hall in Ferndale called The Loving Touch (it used to be a massage place and they kept the name).

There will be some folks playing tunes (DJing, not playing live) all day, including Daniel from noon to 2.

It's owned by the same folks who own nearby Emory and the Woodward Avenue Brewery, which is next door. It's free to get in, so come on by for a beer, to browse goods from some great artists and then you can walk across the street to downtown Ferndale if you like.

There's a complete list of vendor's on the event's Myspace page HERE.

* Sarah is having foot surgery tomorrow -- getting the other one done (the first was in '07). Let's send some good wishes her way tomorrow and some even better wishes to her nanny who will largely be flying solo for the next two weeks while mom is off her feet. :)

* I'm going to update the Badias Family Shutterfly account with February photos, which include Lucas's third birthday festivities. You can check it out HERE. The password is Sarah. I should have them up by this afternoon. Having login issues at the moment.

* There's a new show on Saturday and Sunday afternoons down here called "Essential Music" on WDET (the NPR station), and they put a call out for a new theme song. I encourage Dan to throw is hat in the ring and he's one of 58 songs open to listener voting. Click HERE now and vote for number 7!!!

* We're trying to orchestrate a Tigers game for Dan's family, followed by a birthday party for Claire (and likely others), maybe on Sunday, May 24. Dan's family will only consist of a handful of people and I'm going to open the invite to all of you. Once we track down the date (since Dan's family will be coming from Ohio) I'll e-mail everyone if they would like to come down for some baseball, cake and ice cream!
