Kickin' it, Detroit style.

My friend Sally (who I used to work with in Chicago and who introduced Daniel and I!), her boyfriend, Sprite and their son, Echo, came to visit from Chicago last weekend. When we came up for air after getting lots of unpacking done (fun visit for them, huh???), we took them down to the Riverfront Sunday to see Downtown Detroit, ride the people mover (a train that goes through Downtown Detroit), had a nice picnic and took the kids over to the fountains behind the Renaissance Center.

Here are some pictures of the fun!

Fun with the boys!

Here are some goofy videos of the boys. First up -- an early birthday gift for Gigi, who turns 35 today (close enough)!!!! Happy Birthday, Gigi. We love you! And we know how hard you worked on "So big" with Lucas, so here's a sneak peak of Anthony doing it (although he kind of got shy until the second the video was off).

[Note: Please ignore the serious business at the end. There was a parental matter that Sarah had to take care of with Lucas, who likes to treat Anthony like he is A) 3 and B) indestructible.]

Now here's evidence of both Anthony's weird side-sweep crawl and how freakin' fast he is.

This one is of the boys watching Aunt Kirsten make Gigi's birthday cake. And Lucas doing the unthinkable -- wiping off Mama's kisses. [Another note only our weird family will understand: at the end, Sarah's able to get 2 kinds of "lovin'" from Lucas -- a kiss... and sniffs...]

Last but not least, a video of Sarah's feeble attempt to videotape the boys. I like how they gang up on her at the end.

Way to go, Gupp!

Gupp was named Employee of the Month for Operations, for which she gets $10,000.

OK, she only gets $50, but Tone's buying drinks on her birthday this weekend!!!!!

Here's the notice that went out to bank staff re: this month's recognized employees:

Operations:

Toni Buys

AVP Corporate Governance- Ionia Johnson Bldg

Nominated by Dave Troyer

Toni is the Corporate Governance Officer for the bank, and as such is responsible for ensuring that Executive Management and the Board of Directors follow the rules and regulations as set by the State and Federal Government. She is also the Business Continuity Plan Coordinator and the “keeper of the procedures”. Toni has to be able to walk the fine line of keeping everyone “in line”, without overstepping the boundaries and getting herself in over her head. Toni is involved with many community programs such as the “living without tobacco” program with the Ionia County Health Department and she bakes dynamite pies that she donates or sells and donates the proceeds from the sale to special events. Toni is a fountain of information and an invaluable resource for whom to see and how to tackle the most complex problems faced.
